Amber Waves KS LLC is a small, family-owned business based in El Dorado, KS. We specialize in hand-dyeing high quality natural fibers. Amber Waves originally came to life as a hand-dyed yarn company, run out of the spare bedroom in my home. Now, a few short years later, we have a fully functional studio in town with a small store front to go along with it.

All our yarns are hand-painted on an extra fine, SW merino base. We take this incredibly soft yarn and create beautiful colorways, finding our inspiration in many forms. Our passion, though, is using our home state for ideas producing colorway lines inspired by Texas regions, wildflowers, and attractions. We handcraft all our stitch markers, too, many of which are also Texas inspired.

The intersection of wood, reed and wool are part of the mischief of these unassuming pieces. Woodturning, weaving, hand dying and the search for appropriate found objects are all part of the fun. I was raised in a family of talented artists and have worked with various mediums over the years, but I found my true joy working in the fiber arts. I am a small studio that produces hand-painted spindles, carded batts and dyed fibers, as well as wire core yarn and other embellishments for spinners, felters, and fiber artists to use in their own creations. It is important to me that I have a hand in making the items I sell.
