Coiled Basketry

Saturday, March 21st - 9am-12pm

Discover coiled basketry in this introductory workshop. Through demonstration and guided practice, you’ll learn to create a foundation, splice in new materials, adjust tension for shape control, and incorporate decorative stitching. You'll gain an understanding of how the components and their treatment influence the final result—allowing you to create baskets that range from sturdy functional pieces to sculptural works. By the end of the session, you’ll have the technical foundation, design insight, and creative direction to continue expanding your basketry practice. Participants may complete a small basket or begin a larger, more complex form to finish independently. Provided Materials: Core fibers, yarn needle, clothes pin, and reference handout.
