In this class we will explore the uniqueness of an indigo bath and what chemical reactions are needed for it to work. We will discuss (and, for some, demonstrate) various types of indigo vats including those from fresh indigo plants, dried plant material, synthetic vs. natural, fermentation vats, iron vats, etc. Each participant will leave with a folder of information and fabric samples dyed with indigo. This class will be a deeper exploration of indigo vats than is normally presented.
