Discover the Lucet, a historically significant cord-making tool, and add a valuable, portable skill to your fiber arts repertoire. Originating in Northern European cultures prior to the 9th century, the Lucet creates a strong, square, strong and slightly elastic cord which resists unraveling when cut. These durable cords are excellent for drawstrings, shoelaces, piping, frog closures, or as a strong structural element in embroidery and accessories. In this workshop, we’ll begin with the foundational square cord, focusing on even tension and structural consistency. From there, you’ll explore both the turn and no-turn techniques. We will also introduce two-strand and patterned cords. Lucets and a range of yarns will be provided. Additional handmade Lucets will be available for purchase after class. Provided Materials: Lucet, assorted yarns, and reference handout
