Managing long floats in stranded colorwork knitting can be a challenge for many knitters. If they are too long you can catch your fingers or jewelry in them, too short and they can cause your knitting to pucker or lose its elasticity. Plus when caught, they can show through on the right side of the fibric, disrupting your carefully planned design. That is where ladderback jacquard comes in. This technique gives you a new way to secure your floats that reduces concerns about tension and is completely invisible. In this class you will learn the techniques involved in setting up and using ladderback jacquard in your stranded knitting projects and you will create your own ear warmer using these new skills.
Materials Required: Two contrasting colors of DK weight yarn (stash leftovers are fine, solid colors or semisolids recommended), 16-in US7/4.5mm circular needles or size appropriate for your yarn, stitch marker.
