Give forgotten items a whimsical second life! Repurposing everyday objects is a fantastic way to add instant charm and narrative to your fiber art. In this unique workshop, you will turn used, broken, or reclaimed items into delightful backdrops for custom needle-felted characters. We will use items like vintage teacups, old teapots, sardine tins, and spam cans to serve as bathtubs, cozy beds, or quirky homes for miniature wool creatures. You will learn how to build your character to perfectly fit your chosen object, securely attach wool to alternative materials, and add custom details to bring your story to life. By the end of class, you will have a finished, one-of-a-kind art piece and a fresh perspective on what can be upcycled. What you will learn: Mixed-media felting: Techniques for anchoring wool shapes to metal, ceramic, and wood props. Proportional sculpting: Designing and sizing a 3D character to sit, sleep, or nestle perfectly inside a specific object. Storytelling with fiber: Adding expressive details and tiny accessories to match the theme of your reclaimed treasure.
Materials Required: The instructor will provide a diverse collection of reclaimed objects to choose from, but students are highly encouraged to bring their own small, sentimental, or quirky containers from home to work with!
